In the inaugural exhibition, the content was about the first generation to immigrate to America. Although there was an immediate transformation to the cultural values which surrounded them, their upbringing and beliefs were always a part of their lives.

The design is a reflection of this duality of identity and cultural amalgamation over their lifetimes. Eastern views, as captured through artistic interpretations and materials, were blended with Western cultural influences.

The design was a complete blending of content, context and connections, with the artistic design and interpretation of the exhibition design.
