In a special edition, Sunset Magazine commissioned GTD to do a full color gatefold about whale migration on the West Coast.

GTD conferred with marine biologists from the Monterey Bay Aquarium, to insure accuracy in the art. With their generous support, a final layout and biological references were completed in two weeks.

The artwork was once again a watercolor base, with color pencils for the detail. The composition was anchored by the Blue Whale. Artistically the goal was to contrast the whales, free swimming,
