At the Monterey Bay Aquarium, one of the most popular exhibits is the aviary. Although it was one of the "experiments" it has been a great success.

During the aquarium development, bird stories and identification were an important element of the physical exhibit. There were many ideas and techniques put forth, to best express the supporting information.

This is an example of a pencil drawing test, putting the hawk in an animated position, but still giving key information for identification. Considerations included light and shadow, position, implied movement and technique / style duplication over time.
